Residence Hall Association Wins NACURH School of the Year Award
The University of Arizona Residence Hall Association (RHA) was awarded the NACURH School of the Year Award at the annual NACURH conference held June 1st-4th in at the University of Colorado-Boulder. NACURH is the National Association of College and University Residence Halls and is the international governing body of all campus Residence Hall Associations. The Annual NACURH Conference gathers participant schools from all over the United States as well as international countries such as Canada, Qatar, Hong Kong, and South Africa.
The NACURH School of the Year Award is considered the highest honor a member school can attain and recognizes outstanding achievements on the campus level by a residence hall organization and associated groups, as well as contributions on regional and national levels . Students from the UA’s RHA submitted a bid for this award which involved creating a 30 page document highlighting the many accomplishments of our campus’ Residence Halls and student-led organizations, including NRHH (National Residence Hall Honorary), ACT (Advocates Coming Together) and Eco Reps.
In addition to this prestigious award, the University of Arizona Residence Hall Association was also awarded the Hallenbeck Service Award for Residential Education Director Sharon Overstreet and the On Campus Marketing NRHH Member of the Year Award for Caroline Shanholtz. These individual awards acknowledge the substantial contributions and support of residential programs both on campus and throughout the nation.
