Success Express
Listed under Higher Education 197 A, Success Express is a one-unit course offered to first-year students in the fall semester. It is co-taught by graduate students in Higher Education and Residence Life staff.
Created to promote student success in the first year of college, Success Express encourages discovering opportunities, making a successful transition to college, and taking responsibility for one’s college experience.
The course focuses on student experiences during the first year and offers in-class discussions, reflective journal writing and out-of-class experiences designed to acquaint students with the University.


The Success Express Curriculum includes these topics:
- Expectations and perceptions
- Engagement and feeling connected
- Academics and learning
- Purpose and direction
- Self management
- Autonomy and self sufficiency
- Interaction with faculty
- Identity and self awareness
- Membership in a learning community
