Diversity, Multiculturalism and Social Justice in Residence Life

Diversity

Our Mission
To create and support safe, fun and dynamic communities where all members develop personal responsibility, are positively engaged, feel a sense of belonging and the communities reflect authentic relationships where students are free to share, learn and grow. Specifically, elMundo strives to “raise student and staff awareness levels about diversity and social justice.”

Residence Life Diversity and Non-Discrimination Statement
Residence Life recognizes and values the commonalities and differences among students at the University of Arizona. Discrimination, sexual and bias-related harassment, hate crimes and other violations of student rights disrupt the educational process and are not tolerated.

Students in the residence halls have the right to be free of discrimination for reasons of age, color, ethnicity, gender, national origin, ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, Vietnam Era veteran status or unique individual style.

Here at The University of Arizona, Residence Life has a clear and strong commitment to diversity and multiculturalism. We believe that cross-cultural and intercultural experiences enrich the residence hall community and strive to provide our residential population (staff and students) with quality programming designed to help us develop multicultural competency. For our purposes, we expand the traditional definition of “programming” to include training and professional development as well as a variety of advocacy initiatives.
