SafeZONE

SafeZONE is a program designed to teach people how to be supportive allies to lesbian, gay, bi-affectionate and transgender persons. The goals of SafeZONE are to contribute to a safer campus environment, and to create a more receptive and accepting campus climate in regards to homosexuality. Members of SafeZONE agree to educate themselves about homosexuality, homophobia and heterosexism, and must complete a two-hour Ally Development workshop. Participants receive a SafeZONE sign, which indicates that they are an identifiable source of support and nurturance for lesbian, gay, bi-affectionate and transgender students, faculty and staff.

All workshops are free and open to the entire campus community. Click here for the current workshop schedule. Any questions you have regarding the program or schedule may be directed to Kathy Adams Riester, Assistant Director, Residential Education at (520) 621-5453 or SafeZONE@life.arizona.edu

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to seeing you at a SafeZONE session!

SafeZONE/SafeSPACE is a national program.
