1. What are the hours of the La Aldea Office?
The office is open each weekday from 9am-1pm and 2pm-6pm. On Saturdays and
Sundays the office is open from 10am-4pm. [TOP]
2. Who are CRAs and how do I contact them?
There are seven Community Resident Assistants (CRAs) who serve the La Aldea
community. They serve on an on-call rotation providing on-call/emergency
coverage each night from 8pm-8am. You may call the duty line at 307-2092
with emergencies during this time. The CRAs also work to implement events
and programming for the community. They assist with check-ins and check-outs
of apartments and are great resources in general. [TOP]
3. What is the number for the U of A Police Department?
You may call 621-UAPD (621-8273) at any time with any emergencies. The UAPD
website will provide additional
information for non emergencies and we also encourage you to review our

4. How can I make an appointment with the Community Director?
La Aldea has one Community Director. This full-time staff member manages
the apartment complex. You may drop by her office on the first floor to
speak with her or make an appointment by e-mailing kraus@life.arizona.edu

5. Does La Aldea have an Office Manager?
Yes, La Aldea has a full time Office Manager who oversees all administrative
functions including leasing of apartments, mail and package deliveries,
keys, equipment check-out, and community room reservations. For more information

6. What if I lock myself out of my apartment?
If you are locked-out during business hours, please go to the La Aldea office
to receive a spare key. Each resident receive two free lock-outs. After
your first two lock-outs, you will be charged a $10 lock-out fee.
If you are locked-out outside of business hours, please call the CRA on duty at 307-2092 to be let into your room. The CRAs may not issue you a spare key, so you will need to come back to the office the next morning to receive your spare.
If you lose your keys or your keys are stolen, your room must be re-keyed at your expense ($50 per key). [TOP]
7. How do I get my mail and packages?
Each apartment has one mailbox that all roommates share. You will be issued
a mailbox key upon check-in. Mail is delivered, sorted and, placed in mailboxes
each day. We work with the schedule of the US Postal Service and do our
best to be timely in sorting and placing mail in mailboxes.
Note: Packages that are too large to fit in a mailbox are logged and kept in the
office. A yellow slip will be placed in your mailbox to let you know that
you have a package. To retrieve your package, please go to the office during
business hours with your identification and sign for your package. Your
roommate cannot pick up or sign for your packages. [TOP]
8. What if something breaks in my room?
La Aldea has its own Custodial and Maintenance (link to Creating community
page – can it be anchored to start this section at top of page?)
crew. They are responsible for keeping La Aldea safe, clean, and beautiful.
If something in your apartment or in the community needs attention (a routine
damage to La Aldea property) please fill out an Area Maintenance Form (AMF).
These blue forms are located by the mailboxes. These forms are work request
orders and inform Residence Life Maintenance of any routine repairs/replacement/work
that needs to be conducted in a resident’s room, or common space
in La Aldea. An AMF grants staff permission to access apartments to complete
a work order. Residents need not be present at the time of work. Staff
will usually leave a note and respond within 48 hours, if not sooner. [TOP]
9. What do I do if I am having trouble with my Cable, Internet, or Phone?
If you are having issues with your cable, internet, or phone, please call
the Center for Computing and Instructional Technology
at 621-4357. Residence Life cannot work on these issues. [TOP]
10. What phone lines are activated in my apartment and how do I dial long-distance?
La Aldea provides one local phone line per apartment in the living room.
To activate a line in your bedroom, you must do so at your expense by contacting
the Center for Computing and Instructional Technology at 621-4357.You are responsible for your own long distance service and charges. You may use a personal cell phone or any toll-free calling card. [TOP]
11. How can I get my carpet shampooed?
Your carpet with be shampooed once a year by Residence Life Custodial. If you would like additional shampooing, you must ONLY use our preferred vendor: If you would like to shampoo your carpet, you must ONLY use our preferred
vendor: Bulldog Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Company, LLC.

12. How can I access or reserve the various communal rooms at La Aldea?
Community Room: All La Aldea residents have access to our beautiful Community Room. This
room is a great place to study, watch TV, and socialize. Also, the CRA
staff uses this space for community events. You may reserve the room for a personal event by speaking with our Office Manager in the front
office and completing a form. Your apartment key opens the door to the
Community Room.
Fitness Room: All La Aldea residents have access to the fitness room. This room is located
in the Community Room, on the Southwest side. You may use these facilities
24 hours a day and your apartment key opens the door.
Study Room: There is a Study Room located by the mailboxes. This space is great for quiet
studying or small group work. Your apartment key opens the door to the

13. When is my rent due each month?
Your rent is billed each month to your Student Account and is due according
to the Bursar’s deadlines.
You may pay rent directly online by check or credit card: Master Card,
VISA, American Express. [TOP]
14. Does my rent include utilities?
Yes; your utilities include: UA high speed internet (one per bedroom and
living room), extended cable TV, local telephone line, water, and electric
allowance to cover heating and cooling. The only additional expense will
be your long distance phone. [TOP]
15. How do I check-out of La Aldea?
You must schedule a check-out, walk-through appointment with your CRA through
the La Aldea Office Manager at least 48 hours in advance of your check-out.

16. Is La Aldea closed during University breaks?
No, La Aldea remains open year round including all University holidays and
during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks. [TOP]
