Graduate Community Director Position Description
The University of Arizona Residential Education Team is looking for well-balanced and self-motivated graduate students to work with a dynamic Residential Life Program. The focus is on teaching, serving and caring about residents and staff within our inclusive community.
Located in the city of Tucson, within a multicultural population that reflects the richness of the Southwest, the University of Arizona is a public land-grant institution established in 1885. It has a current enrollment of over 38,000 students. Residence Life serves over 6,000 students who reside in 22 residence halls.
Responsibilities:
- Sole responsibiity for a coeducational or single-sex residence hall housing 120-220 residents and supervision of 4-8 Resident Assistans;or
- Shared responsibility with a full-time masters level Community Director, Senior for a coeducational residence hall housing 450-800 residents and shared supervision of 19-24 Resident Assistants
- Select, train, and evaluate staff
- Implement the Academic Success Program and the Caring and Inclusive Learning Community Program
- Serve as a judicial hearing officer
- Advise Hall Council
- Serve in a campus-wide duty rotation

Qualifications: A bachelor's degree and acceptance into any UA graduate degree program are required for employment. Experience in Residence Life or related Student Affairs is preferred.
Special note for those applying for the College Student Personnel Masters program: you must apply to the College Student Personnel Masters program by January 15, 2010. However, those applications received by December 1, 2009 will receive priority review for admission and assistantships in the Division of Student Affairs.

Ten-month contract start date: approximately July 12, 2010
