No, we do not require that you are a current desk assistant, but we do preference applicants with desk assistant experience, supervision experience and/or significant Residence Life experience.
Yes. Desk managers who desire to hold another position need to inform their direct supervisor. Under no circumstance are desk managers permitted to hold positions that require more than 20 hours of work per week.

No. Attendance at Desk Manager training, in its entirety, is required to hold the position. Training lasts a few days and covers a breadth of information ranging from customer service to payroll, to troubleshooting and card access issues. Students must be in good standing with the Dean of Students’ office and the Residence Life Code of Conduct. Students who have been, or are currently, on deferred eviction status, or have been evicted from a residence hall, are not eligible to apply.
When you apply, you are applying for the position in the residence hall system not for a specific residence hall. There is an area on the online application for you to select a preferred area of campus, however, hall placement is determined by the Desk Selection Committee and is based on the needs of the building, as well as the applicant’s skill set.
Yes, you can apply for both positions; however you cannot be employed as an RA and as a desk manager. The RA interview and selection process finishes prior to the desk manager selection process so that you can apply for both but only accept one position. At the time of application, desk manager candidates must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students who do not meet this criterion will automatically be removed from the process. All desk managers must be full-time students and be making progress toward graduation.
Most desk managers work between 15 and 20 hours depending on the week. Traditionally, while participating in Fall training, Fall check-in, and Spring check-in desk managers work more hours than the norm.
