Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the Resident Assistant position, you have to meet all the following requirements:
- You must currently be in good standing with Residence Life and the Dean of Students.
- You must have a cumulative University of Arizona GPA of at least 2.5 at the time of appointment. Candidates not meeting this criterion will be cut from the process.
- You must have spent at least one semester as a full-time college student at The University of Arizona.
- You must maintain full-time student status (12 credits) while on staff.
- You must be able to arrive on campus and attend and fully participate in Fall RA training (which begins on Friday, August 5, 2010 at 5 PM and continues until the beginning of classes), as well as Spring RA training on January 6, 2011.
- Resident Assistants are required to work through hall closing at the end of each semester.

Essential Functions of the Resident Assistant Position
- Use On-Call Duty Cell Phone to make and receive phone calls
- Participate in Duty-Rotation including conducting rounds through building to assure security, communicate with residents, and assure that compliance with Community Standards.
- Communicate with individuals and with groups.
- Facilitate meetings with 20-50 wing/floor residents
- Facilitate roommate meetings
- Meet with individual residents
- Read and respond to emails in a punctual fashion
- Speak English fluently
- Complete administrative paperwork both on paper (e.g., Room Condition Reports, Roommate Agreements, Check in/out paperwork) and electronically (e.g. online Incident Reports, Check-in and Check-out procedures)
- Inventory student room conditions and complete associated paperwork (e.g., complete Room Condition Reports, conduct semester safety checks, and participate in checking students out of building).
- Enter/Exit all student rooms on assigned wing/floor.
- Initiate, plan, and execute events and activities.
- Participate as member of Resident Assistant Team.
- Respond to emergency situations that occur in the hall.
- Utilize submaster key system in halls (requires ability to swipe student ID and use a peg to access key).
- Utilize web-based resources.
- Maintain a system of posting current information, events and policies on wing/floor.
- Carry up to 10 lbs
