Mission

The Residence Life Recycling and Sustainability Program, a unit within Residence Life at The University of Arizona, is dedicated to preserving the environment by facilitating an ongoing recycling program in each residence hall and La Aldea Graduate Housing. We provide education on recycling as well as environmental preservation by enabling students to become ecologically responsible individuals through the use of programming and practices.

In 2007, Residence Life Recycling and Sustainability was selected as a finalist for the Busch Systems recycling bin design competition

Busch systems is an international organization dedicated to building innovative and effective recycling bins. Residence Life Recycling and Sustainability was presented with a check for $500 at the National Recycling Coalition’s annual congress and expo for commitment to the environmental quality of Arizona by the development of innovative, sustainable programs to improve the quality of life. Residence Life Recycling was proud to be awarded with this honor!

In October 2006, Residence Life Recycling was awarded the Governor's Pride in Arizona Award for it outstanding recycling program.

The Governor's Pride in Arizona Awards recognizes the efforts made by individuals and groups to enhance their communities and protect Arizona's environment. This is the only statewide environmental award program that recognizes Arizona communities, businesses, and organizations that have demonstrated a commitment to the environmental quality of Arizona by the development of innovative, sustainable programs to improve the quality of life.
