Apply for Housing
NEW UNDERGRADS
Congratulations on being admitted to The University of Arizona! As you make plans to attend the University, Residence Life has some important information to share. With the number of residence hall applications now received, campus housing is full for the 2008-2009 academic year. All new housing applications are automatically being placed on a Waitlist. However, based on the information we have today, we do not believe that we will be able to accommodate anyone on the Waitlist and we urge you to secure off-campus housing. If you have completed and submitted a housing application by April 1st 2008, you will be assigned a space in the weeks to come.
If you have not yet applied and are still interested in living on campus, please read further for wailist information and off campus resources.
Residence Life and Off-Campus Housing Services are working together to provide you with several options for housing:
- Off-Campus Housing Services provides excellent services including a list of available rentals for the fall in a variety of styles, locations and prices. They maintain a list of students who are searching for roommates and they have an online 100-page UA Off-Campus Housing Guide.
- When you attend Orientation this summer, stop by the Off-Campus Housing Services Office on the main floor of the Student Union Memorial Center, next to the CatCard office. There you can meet several apartment managers and talk with staff. We especially encourage you to sign up for Apartment RUSH, a tour that takes students and parents to visit a number of apartment complexes on the second day of Orientation from 1-5pm. Space is limited, so register early for a tour: call 520-621-5859 or email housing@u.arizona.edu
- Space becomes available as students leave, transfer or graduate at the end of Fall semester. Contact Housing Assignment Services for details: (520) 621-6501 for the opportunity to live on campus during the Spring 09 semester. You will need to complete a Spring only housing application that will be available in September
- If you still want to apply for the Campus Housing Waitlist, you will need your student identification number, PIN number, and an email address. When you complete the process, you will be notified via email that your housing application for the Waitlist is accepted. You do not pay the $100 application fee to be on the Waitlist. If you do not receive a confirmation email, contact Residence Life at 621-6501.
Fall 2008 Waitlist Housing Application Terms
Completion and submission of a Waitlist Housing application does not guarantee that campus housing will be available for the applicant. Completion and submission of a WAITLIST application indicates that the applicant fully understands and agrees to the following terms:
- WAITLIST applications for campus housing are accepted ONLY to ensure that those students who remain interested in campus housing can be quickly contacted and their housing application activated in the UNLIKELY event that Residence Life receives more cancellations than anticipated from students with currently active housing applications.
- Residence Life recommends and encourages students completing this application to actively seek and make arrangements for alternate housing (whether confirmed or tentative). There are more and better quality off-campus living choices available to students close to campus during the spring and early in the summer as opposed to later in the summer. Information for students seeking off-campus living arrangements is available from the University's Off Campus Housing Office located in the Student Union on the main floor next to the CatCard Office (520-621-5859).
- WAITLIST applications will be considered for activation in the order in which they were RECEIVED by Residence Life. If space becomes available, Residence Life will contact students on the WAITLIST by phone and email for two business days. If Residence Life is unable to successfully contact a student from the WAITLIST within this two-day period, the available space will be offered to the next student on the WAITLIST.
- Assignment to available spaces is made by gender. When spaces designated for one gender become available, they will only be made available to students of the same gender on the WAITLIST.
- In order to accept a housing offer from the WAITLIST, students must immediately pay the non-refundable, $100.00 Application Fee. No assignment will be made until the $100.00 payment has been received. Offers will be retracted for students failing to complete payment of the $100.00 Application Fee within two (2) business days of receiving an offer.
- If a student on the WAITLIST is no longer interested in campus housing, Residence Life requests the courtesy of a written notification (mail, fax, email) requesting cancellation of the WAITLIST application. This courtesy will allow Residence Life to more quickly offer available space to students who do still wish to live on campus.
