Getting Involved

To get the most from your college experience, it's important that you take some time to create a plan that integrates your academic choices, career choices, and the choices you make about the time you spend outside of class. With all the different organizations and clubs at The University of Arizona, you will find many ways to meet new people, improve your leadership skills, build self-esteem, face responsibility, and accomplish goals that will enhance your future endeavors. Getting involved in different organizations in college is a great way to improve your resume and make you stand out when applying for a job after graduation. Besides, you are bound to have fun doing it!

Whether you just want to participate or you want to make a difference, plenty of opportunities are available.

Here’s a quick look at some ways you can be involved in your hall and campus community.

2009 IACURH Highlights

Residence Hall AssociationResidence Hall Association

As a member of our residential community, you are automatically a member of the Residence Hall Association (RHA). This organization is the “official voice” of residents on campus and works closely with department leaders to promote a great residential experience for students. In addition to advising Residence Life on issues of policy and budget, RHA is a programming group. RHA annually sponsors/co-sponsors major events like start-of-school block parties, HALLADAZE, Hunger Banquet, Vagina Monologues etc. Additionally, it provides financial support to hall councils for social and educational programs and for a variety of community amenities. RHA provides many leadership opportunities for residents and we hope you will become an active member. RHA general meetings are always on Thursdays at 5:00 PM.

Hall Council

Each residence hall has a hall council to provide a variety of services and programming opportunities for residents. Hall councils play a key role in setting the “tone” in each residence hall by planning social and educational programs and activities. They are very active within their communities and assist the Community Directors with decisions that may impact the residents. Hall councils also work towards improving amenities and services provided. You will receive more information about your specific hall council from your RA at check-in.

Eco-Reps and Residence Life Recycling

Residence Life Recycling is excited about all the awesome things to come in the new school year, but it will not be complete without people like you!

Eco-RepWe need students from residence halls to get involved with all that Residence Life Recycling has to offer by becoming an Eco-Rep. Eco-Reps are at the heart of Residence Life Recycling. They are volunteers from each of the residence halls who assist in the function of Residence Life Recycling. They attend meetings each month to discuss recycling in their hall and environmental issues on campus, notify the Eco-Rep Coordinator of the condition of recycling in their halls, attend events and programs to further their environmental knowledge, communicate environmental information to fellow residents in their hall, and much more. If you are interested in this wonderful opportunity to learn, meet new people, gain valuable skills that will help you throughout your life, and have fun, please contact the Eco-Rep Coordinator. The Associated Students of The University of Arizona (ASUA)

ASUAThis is your University-wide student government. ASUA offers a wide variety of programs and services that students can both help organize and utilize. These programs range from planning carnivals, raising funds for scholarships, and representing student concerns to the state legislature. Also, ASUA is responsible for the overall functioning of nearly 500 clubs and organizations that make up the campus environment.

Campus Involvement

Whether your interests are social, academic, athletic or Greek, the UA has something for everyone. Not only do clubs and organizations enhance campus life at the University of Arizona, they provide students with a great way to build skills, get connected to campus, and make long lasting friendships.
