About Blue Chip
The Arizona Blue Chip Program is part of the Center for Leadership and Social Change and is a 4 year co-curricular leadership education experience that integrates skill development, self-reflection, community service, social justice education, teambuilding, career development, and event planning to help students learn, practice, and engage in leadership for social change. The mission of Blue Chip is to build leaders who make a difference. Blue Chip is open to all students including first-year, continuing, and transfer students.
The Program is divided into four phases-each phase covers one academic year. During each phase, students will also be adding to their leadership portfolios, Leadership & Involvement Transcripts, doing community service, and working individually with a mentor.
Blue Chip students who live in Pima Lodge have the opportunity to participate in the following activities throughout the year:
- Opening Event: A welcome/social event takes place the first week of classes during the Fall Semester as an opportunity for Blue Chip students to meet each other and learn about the different ways to get more involved with the Blue Chip Program
- Blue Chip Curriculum Enhancement Programming: Events open to the entire Blue Chip community that expand on concepts learned in the Phase I curriculum.
- Theme Fair and Social: An informational fair about the five themes in Blue Chip for all Phase I students.
- House Closing Event: An end of the year event for students to reflect upon their residential and Blue Chip experience.
Some of the support services include:
- Leadership Lodge Ambassadors
- Phase II+ students that serve as mentors in the Leadership Lodge. These students assist with programming, service projects, and transitioning first year Blue Chip students.
- Leadership Lodge Programming Team
- Group of students that plan monthly Lodge programs based on Blue Chip’s Four Core Values: Integrity, Diversity, Service, Excellence.

“The Blue Chip community is so supportive. The residents are like family—they’re like my brothers and sisters. It’s comforting having them, especially during your first year.”

“Freshman who have been invited to be a part of the Blue Chip Program should seriously consider living in the community at Pima Lodge. You will have the opportunity to explore leadership capabilities and share your first year experiences with other Phase I students at the UA. Living at this community has relieved the anxiety about finding friends on campus who share my same interests. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!”
